Religious Routes


One of the most remarkable religious routes in Greece is "The Route that Apostle Paul Followed in Greece". Paul constitutes a remarkable personality for the Christian religion, although he never belonged to Jesus’ 12 Disciples cycle. He spread the word of Christianity more than anybody else and for this reason he was named "Equal-to-the-Apostles" and “Apostle of the Nations”. Also, Saints Cyril and Methodius the Byzantine Greek brothers born in Thessaloniki in the 9th century who became Christian missionaries among the Slavic peoples of the Great Moravia and Pannonia.

Jewish heritage is an integral part of European history and culture. Much of it is rooted in Europe, with a story of migrations, persecutions and precariousness; but also of exchanges, humanism and a profusion of mutual enrichment.

 




The Routes of the Olive Tree

 
The presence of the olive tree has marked not only the landscape but also the everyday lives of the Mediterranean peoples. A mythical and sacred tree, it is associated with their rites and customs and has influenced their ways of life, creating a specific ancient civilisation, the "olive tree civilisation".





The Wine Roads



Today, there are 37 members in the Association and 8 routes that cross the whole of Northern Greece, with suggested stops at 41 notable wineries of Thessaly (Rapsani and Krania), Epirus, Macedonia and Thrace. Signage along the roads directs travelers to vineyards, wineries and other points of interest.

Thermalism has marked Europe from ancient times to the present day. The most well-known sites were built during the 19th century, when a wide range of new medical and health treatments were developed. 






Prehistoric Rock Art Trail



Prehistoric Rock Art Trail is the art of the first Europeans. The Rupestral Art is the first major cultural, social and symbolic expression that we hold of Humanity. It appeared in Europe 35 000 years ago and grows throughout the Upper Palaeolithic, Neolithic, the Copper Age and the Bronze and until Early Iron Age in some regions.

The megalithic culture for European history, the tourism value of its monuments as part of the common cultural heritage.

 Cemeteries of special historic and artistic importance in Europe. 





EuroVelo Routes
 
EuroVelo is a network of 14 long distance cycle routes connecting and uniting the whole European continent.  The routes can be used by cycle tourists as well as by local people making daily journeys
